The National Road Fund (NRF), along with the Ministry of Public Works (MPW), has officially commenced the payment process for the Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) for the construction of the One-Stop Joint Border Post at the Cavalla River in Duokudi Township, Maryland County.
The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is the primary funding source for this bridge project, which spans 18.4 hectares (45.4 acres).
The construction of this border post will play a crucial role in streamlining cross-border trade and improving economic ties within the region, as well as facilitating the movement of people, goods, and services across the border.
This project represents a pivotal step towards enhancing regional connectivity and boosting economic activities in Maryland County,” said Amando Paye, Director for Resettlement at the Ministry of Public Works “Our commitment is to provide support to the affected persons throughout this process.” He added
The commencement of RAP payments is paving the way for construction to begin in the coming months. Residents of Duokudi Township, Cavalla, Maryland County, are optimistic that the One-Stop Joint Border Post will not only improve infrastructure but also create job opportunities and foster economic development in the area. As the RAP payment unfolds, the local county leadership and community resident say that there are positive about the impacts that the border post will bring to the region, reinforcing ECOWAS’s vision of economic integration and cooperation among member states.
