August 30, 2024, Monrovia, Liberia -The National Road Fund of Liberia, under the leadership of its manager, Mrs. Joseta Neufville-Wento, concluded its annual staff retreat last weekend in Marshall, Margibi County, under the theme “Strengthening Team Bonding for Increased Performance”.
The strategic planning retreat focused on programming activities, data inclusion for decision-making, implementing audit findings, and captivity development and improvement for the 2025 fiscal year.
The road fund sets out to utilize a regulatory framework for selecting road projects for funding. Additionally, the NRF strives to inform the public about its roles and responsibilities, showcasing projects funded by the Annual Road Maintenance and Expenditure Programs. The retreat aligned on improving inter-departmental communication, forming cohesive teamwork, and boosting performance through capacity building.
During the retreat, Fund Manager Madam Neufville-Wento stressed the need for data collection as a pivotal element in decision-making in the 2025 fiscal year for road maintenance and rehabilitation works. Department heads were encouraged to engage more with the Ministry of Public Works and Ministry of Transport to utilize existing data or collect new ones in the preparation of the Annual Road Maintenance Expenditures Program for 2025. Madam Neufville-Wento applauded the team’s hard work and dedication, highlighting the importance of collaboration amongst team members in achieving the fund’s basic objectives.
Madam Neufville-Wento challenged the team to stay focused and never lose sight of the goal of “maintaining the road and bridge network in Liberia. The retreat concluded with interactive seminars and team-building exercises, as well as a renewed sense of commitment among staff with enhanced vigor and cohesion while ensuring value for money.
