Job Vacancy: Legal Counsel

Background:

The National Road Fund of Liberia NRF was established in 2016 to provide sustainable financing for the maintenance and development of Liberia’s road network. The NRF is a public entity governed by an Inter-Ministerial Steering Committee and managed by a manager. The NRF is seeking to hire a Legal Counsel to provide legal advice and support to the NRF.

Position Title: Legal Counsel

Report Directly To: Manager

Objectives:

The Legal Counsel will provide legal advice and support to the NRF, ensuring that all legal matters are handled in compliance with the laws and regulations of Liberia. The Legal Counsel will work closely with the Manager, and other departments to ensure that the NRF operates in a legally compliant and sustainable manner.

Scope of Work:

The Legal Counsel will be responsible for the following:

  •  Providing legal advice and support to the NRFL on all matters related to its operations.
  • Advising the NRF on legal and regulatory compliance issues.
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and legal agreements.
  • Representing the NRF in legal proceedings as necessary.
  • Reviewing and advising on all legal documents related to the NRF, including policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Monitoring and analyzing legal developments and providing guidance on their impact on the NRF.
  • Collaborating with other departments to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Providing legal training to NRF employees as needed.

Deliverables:

The Legal Counsel will be responsible for the following deliverables:

  • Legal advice and support to the NRF on all matters related to its operations.
  • Legal and regulatory compliance guidance to the NRF.
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and legal agreements.
  • Representation of the NRF in legal proceedings as necessary

Educational Qualification and Professional Experience:

  •  Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university
  •  (Louis Arthur Grimes School of law required)
  • Must be a Counselor at Law
  • Admission to the Liberian Bar.
  • At least five years of relevant legal experience in a public or private sector organization.
  • Strong knowledge of Liberian laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and drafting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluency in English.
