The National Road Fund Office (NRFO), led by Mrs. Joseta Neufville-Wento, has intensified its focus on capacity and skills development as a means to enhance productivity in the management of road and bridge assets in Liberia. Four technical staff of the Road Fund office recently participated in a specialized training program focused on road safety engineering and audits at the Arusha International Conference Centre (AICC) in Arusha, Tanzania, from November 15th to 17th. The workshop, spanning three days, provided a comprehensive platform for the development of skills and knowledge in the management of public roads and bridges.
This initiative reflects management’s strong commitment to enhancing the capacity and skills of NRFO personnel, ultimately aiming to bolster productivity within the NRF. The training course served as a crucial opportunity for the four participating staff members to gain valuable insights and expertise in road safety engineering and audits, which are pivotal aspects of effective road and bridge maintenance and a requisite skill set for evaluating projects.
The Tanzania Roads Association (TARA), a National Committee of the World Road Association (PIARC), partnered with the Tanzania Transportation Technology Transfer (TanT2) Centre, the Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) under the Ministry of Works in Tanzania, and the Tanzania Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA) to extend the invitation for the event.
The participation of the NRFO delegation in this international training program underscores the NRF’s proactive approach to seeking knowledge and best practices from global industry leaders. Furthermore, it signifies a strong commitment to advancing the quality and efficiency of road and bridge maintenance in Liberia.
The head of the delegation, Mr. James Sumo, expressed his gratitude to the management of the National Road Fund of Liberia for affording them the opportunity to participate in the international training program. The seminar had a significant impact on him, as it greatly enriched his understanding of the road sector through the knowledge acquired during the training.
Mr. Sumo’s acknowledgement underscores the value and importance of investing in professional development and capacity-building initiatives. It also highlights the tangible benefits that result from providing opportunities for staff members to engage in specialized training program, ultimately enhancing their expertise and contributing to the overall advancement of the NRF’s objectives.
